Vanessa and Andy placed the winning bid at a charity auction in St Columba’s College last year. The proceeds of the auction went to  Harpenden Spotlight on Africa a great charity supporting local initiatives to alleviate poverty in Sub Saharan Africa. Recent projects from this charity include raising the necessary funding for the continued running of a school in Musuto, a village near Mbale in Uganda.

I met up with Vanessa and Andy’s family earlier this year for a photo session at their beautiful home, the last family session they had was years ago, before their youngest son was born so it was time to update the pictures on their walls.

This session didn’t start well… I received a phone call from Ceri as I was still at home hanging out in my pyjamas, somehow I had managed to completely miss our 9am appointment eeeek! Fortunately she was very understanding and ten minutes later I was knocking at the door of their beautiful St Albans home. The situation was quickly recovered as the boys were in a brilliant mood and we had great fun playing around the house and in the garden.

I first photographed Feriha and Luke’s family nearly 2 years ago and when Feriha got in touch last month asking me to capture her children (now aged 4 and 2) I was excited about seeing them again! We took some photos in the house, the garden and also ventured outside on a little walk to their local park:

I made a new friend yesterday: three year old J who had already been practicing his posing before I even arrived made me feel right at home. In fact the whole family was so friendly and a real pleasure to photograph.

It was a really sunny and warm day yesterday and in the house we had the choice between mum and dad’s north facing room and J’s sun-drenched Winnie-the-Pooh themed room with a big bed and a great opportunity for some back-lit reportage-style photos. I opted for black and white on a lot of those to tone down the room scheme and I am thrilled with the result. I think black and white in this case really helped capture the personalities of J and super cute 9 month old R and their brotherly relationship.

I don’t normally venture outside much with babies but the weather was so beautiful we had to take a few shots outdoors too. Again a lot of them are back-lit for a nice sun haze effect.

I met Annelaure nearly four years ago as she was about to give birth to her first baby and we now both help run Les P’tizamis, the playgroup for French-speaking families in and around St Albans. I was very excited to go and photograph her family as a birthday present to Annelaure from her husband Tom.

One thing I can say about Annelaure and Tom is that they make gorgeous babies! Big brother N and baby S are just so full of charm that my heart melts every time they smile. Here are some photos from our session last month:

I would like to share a few photos of Dallah and Patrick’s family. Baby M was very cute and full of smiles, big brother S was so endearing, cooked me some fried eggs on his play kitchen (but not fish as he only had a swimming fish not an eating fish!) and suggested that I stay at their house for the rest of the day – what a sweetie.

Patrick did some impressive baby juggling with his feet, I just wished I had a video camera to capture than one!

With their 1 year old twins and 3 year old boy Liz and Richard really have their hands full! They are such a lovely family and I had the pleasure of photographing them a couple of weeks ago in their St Albans home and we made the most of their amazing garden.

I had a lovely time yesterday morning photographing Leire and Graham’s family in their beautiful St Albans home. Their boys ages 3 and 1 were so much fun and great with the camera. I got the opportunity to practice a bit of Spanish as the boys are bilingual, they also sang songs, bounced on the beds, gazed at the clouds from the loft room and enjoyed cuddles from mum and dad.
