Miranda contacted me back in September to arrange a surprise family photo session as a present for her mum and dad. I had the pleasure of meeting them in their Kings Langley home and we went for a stroll in the nearby woods of Kings Langley Common.

Little Archie, aged 2, particularly enjoyed the company of his granddad (“Gan Gan”) and I loved capturing their relationship.

I am so pleased to share some family photos for my dear friend Kathleen. I have been photographing them every year for the past five years and I just love watching Claire and Charlie play together. I followed them around their beautiful house as they had pillow fights, played hide and seek, horsey and rolled around on the floor, what a blast!

You may have seen a sneak preview of this session on my facebook page – it’s about time I shared more! Here are some photos of two beautiful sisters and and their parents Jane and Dan. I had the privilege of spending the morning with them for a family portrait session earlier this month and the girls enjoyed showing me around their house and dancing on the beds. The weather was terrible so we stayed inside and made the most of the wonderful window light.

Perfectly imperfect: I caught this one as the girls were falling backwards hence the unusual framing but I just couldn’t bring myself to get rid of it, I just love their expressions!

I first photographed Sarah and Paul’s family just over a year ago after the birth of their daughter A. Sarah asked me to come back and capture the children now that A is a toddler and her brother O a big boy of three. During my last visit I spotted their gorgeous free standing bath and was decided to incorporate it in our session this time.

This session didn’t start well… I received a phone call from Ceri as I was still at home hanging out in my pyjamas, somehow I had managed to completely miss our 9am appointment eeeek! Fortunately she was very understanding and ten minutes later I was knocking at the door of their beautiful St Albans home. The situation was quickly recovered as the boys were in a brilliant mood and we had great fun playing around the house and in the garden.

I first photographed Feriha and Luke’s family nearly 2 years ago and when Feriha got in touch last month asking me to capture her children (now aged 4 and 2) I was excited about seeing them again! We took some photos in the house, the garden and also ventured outside on a little walk to their local park:

I would like to share a few photos I took this morning of my friend Jo’s family. The children were super enthusiastic about the session and such a pleasure to photograph! I made a new friend yesterday: three year old J who had already been practicing his posing before I even arrived made me feel right at home. In fact the whole family was so friendly and a real pleasure to photograph.

It was a really sunny and warm day yesterday and in the house we had the choice between mum and dad’s north facing room and J’s sun-drenched Winnie-the-Pooh themed room with a big bed and a great opportunity for some back-lit reportage-style photos. I opted for black and white on a lot of those to tone down the room scheme and I am thrilled with the result. I think black and white in this case really helped capture the personalities of J and super cute 9 month old R and their brotherly relationship.

I don’t normally venture outside much with babies but the weather was so beautiful we had to take a few shots outdoors too. Again a lot of them are back-lit for a nice sun haze effect.

First session of the year last weekend: I had the pleasure of meeting Doreen’s family. It was pretty cloudy but luckily their master bedroom was very bright with plenty of light coming in from the roof windows. Doreen’s session was a present from her work colleagues as she went on maternity leave. Her baby daughter is now 11 months old and I photographed her as she played on the bed with big brother M.

Five year old M got a bit over excited which was an opportunity some fun action shots but he was also very good at getting his sister to pose with him, showing a lot of tenderness.
