Last weekend I had the pleasure of dong a family photo session for my friend Claire from Claire Lane Photography. Claire already has tons of gorgeous pictures of her children but of course she isn’t in many of them – I am guilty of that too!

Getting some nice photos of the whole family is always a challenge and although we as photographers try our best to include ourselves in photos it is a lot easier to get someone else to do it for you. I spent Sunday morning with Claire, Rob and their children Katie and Jack in the lovely St Albans home. Katie and Jack happen to be the same age as my own children and very much used to being photographed of course! I made sure Claire was included in all my shots, I think it probably felt a little strange for her to be on the other side of the camera but she did great and the whole family was a pleasure to photograph.

Pregnancy photo sessions are amongst my favourite type of sessions: slow paced, calm and serene. Here we are waiting for Sophie and Chris’ baby due… tomorrow! Here are some photos of the beautiful Sophie, and of course I cannot wait to meet their baby.

I am excited to be finally able to share a bunch of photo sessions which I kept under wraps until Christmas as the photos were being used for to make presents for my clients’ families.

Here is the lovely baby Lexi and her parents Liz and Adam. I didn’t have to go far for this session as they live just a 5 minute walk away from me in St Albans. Lexi hardly took here eyes off me for the full session (which was very handy!), I think she was trying to work out what it was all about! She’s just 6 months old, a really lovely age to photograph.

This morning I had the pleasure of meeting Rebecca, Nic and their wonderful children Charlotte and William. The photo session was a gift from Rebecca’s brother all the way from Australia.

Photographing the family in their beautiful St Albans home was a real treat, I particularly enjoyed Charlotte’s company as she showed me round the house, took care of her baby brother and her dollies, read stories with Daddy and finished the session in her tutu and fairy wings, as girls do… William was happiest when catching his own reflection in the mirror, the joy of being a baby!

I am so pleased to share some family photos for my dear friend Kathleen. I have been photographing them every year for the past five years and I just love watching Claire and Charlie play together. I followed them around their beautiful house as they had pillow fights, played hide and seek, horsey and rolled around on the floor, what a blast!

Last week I posted a sneak preview of this session on my facebook page and I am very excited about sharing more photos of the beautiful sisters Sylvie and Nieve, aged 5 months. They have such different personalities, Sylvie was all smiles as soon as I arrived whilst Nieve was more serious and wanted to figure me out first… They both did brilliantly during the session and I am so pleased with the results:

You may have seen a sneak preview of this session on my facebook page – it’s about time I shared more! Here are some photos of two beautiful sisters and and their parents Jane and Dan. I had the privilege of spending the morning with them for a family portrait session earlier this month and the girls enjoyed showing me around their house and dancing on the beds. The weather was terrible so we stayed inside and made the most of the wonderful window light.

Perfectly imperfect: I caught this one as the girls were falling backwards hence the unusual framing but I just couldn’t bring myself to get rid of it, I just love their expressions!

Meet gorgeous baby Zachary, aged just 3 weeks, the pride and joy of his parents Louisa and Terry. I just love it when newborn babies smile in their sleep and was lucky to capture some of Zachary’s smiles. His expressions when awake were also adorable, from blowing kisses to big yawns, here are some of my favourites:

This session didn’t start well… I received a phone call from Ceri as I was still at home hanging out in my pyjamas, somehow I had managed to completely miss our 9am appointment eeeek! Fortunately she was very understanding and ten minutes later I was knocking at the door of their beautiful St Albans home. The situation was quickly recovered as the boys were in a brilliant mood and we had great fun playing around the house and in the garden.
