Family photographer

A family photography session with me is all about creating fun memories for you to go back to when looking at your photographs. As a mum of two, I know how hard it can be to get the whole family to “smile nicely for a photo”, so my job as a professional family photographer is to create the kind of relaxed environment that will bring out the genuine smiles and connection.

I will guide you through every step of the way so that, regardless of the size of your family and the ages of the children, it can be an enjoyable experience for everyone.

I love capturing faces and connection between family members, from babies to teens, parents and grandparents. Whether you’d like me to capture an important family milestone like the arrival of a new sibling into the family, your twins’ second birthday or the last summer before your eldest is off to Uni, we will have a chat about your requirements and I can advise on the best location for the shoot and time of day to get best results. As with my baby photography, I do most of my family shoots in the home to capture your family life in your own environment but we can also meet at your local park or another location significant to you.

Large family photoshoot

Some of my favourite family shoots are family reunions, to celebrate grandparents’ golden wedding anniversary or a 70th birthday for example. With all the children and grandchildren gathered together for the occasion, I can capture a series of images from big groups shots to smaller family units and individual portraits of the grandchildren, as well candid shots of them playing together. Such images do look wonderful in an album or collage and never fail to bring grandparents much joy.

Here are some examples of the kind of images I can capture for you during a family photo shoot.

Family photo session in Verulamium Park

Clare's husband Kirk got in touch with me earlier this year to organise a photo session as a present for Clare. I was delighted to finally meet Clare's family as she had taken part in my photography course last year. I had seen so many photos of her boys, but never go...

Boys photo session in St Albans

What best way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon than just explore, swap jokes, run, jump and climb trees? I had the best time yesterday with Guenaelle's boys for a photo session in St Albans. And because they are bilingual we did the whole session in French, I was...

Ruby wedding anniversary present

Gordon and Heather recently celebrated their Ruby Wedding Anniversary and their children got together to offer them a family photo session in their beautiful Harpenden home. I spent a couple of hours with them doing a mixture of posed group shots and also some more...

A session in aid of the St Albans and Hertsmere Womens Refuge

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Anj's family in their St Albans home. Anj placed the winning big at a charity auction last year organised to raise money for a great cause:  the St Albans and Hertsmere Womens Refuge which helps women  who they are...

Redbourn family photography

I love revisiting families and watching them grow. I met first Claire nearly 3 years ago for a pregnancy session to as she was expecting her first baby, and was back again a few months ago for her second pregnancy shoot with big sister-to-be Naomi. This time I got to...

Ned and Oli – Family Photography in St Albans

I'd like to share some images I took of Fiona and Matt's family in St Albans at the weekend. I first photographed them 3 years ago when Oli was just 2. Now his brother Ned has joined the family, it was time for some updated family shots! Oli is exactly my son's age...

A walk in the bluebell woods

Sara got in touch with me last month to organise a session with her family. I felt I already knew Sara a little as she is often kind enough to leave "likes" and comments on my facebook page. We were hoping to have a session in the bluebells but there is always a bit...
