“I hate having my photo taken”

This is the first thing I hear from the majority of people who step in front of my lens, and I totally get it: feeling exposed, forgetting how to smile or “look natural”, feeling like you never look good in photos.

Chances are, you’ve had some negative experiences in the past. Maybe feeling rushed with a professional photographer, or feeling disheartened that a friend or family member couldn’t get a decent photo of you. So you feel that getting a good photo is impossible, except maybe if it’s a candid shot.

I hate having my photo taken

When you come to a professional with years of experience, it’s our job to make you look good. Here is how I do it:

Flattering lighting

This changes EVERYTHING. Using lighting (studio or natural) that brings out your best features, that makes your eyes sparkle, that is kind on the skin.

Posing guidance

I guide you through the posing to get the best angles and expressions: what to do with your hands, how to sit, how to stand, I try to make you smile instead of telling you to smile.

A collaborative process

As soon as I get a nice shot of you, I show you the back of the camera, and the relief is usually palpable. We can then continue the session feeling much more relaxed, it becomes a collaborative process. If you’re still not sure, we just tweak the setup until you get a result you’re happy with.

If you need a new headshot but you’ve been putting it off, please get in touch. I promise I will look after you!
